How to find duplicate pages in Notion
Two pages called “Onboarding” isn't a storage problem. It's a trust problem: half the team updates one, half updates the other, and neither is right. Notion makes duplicates easy to create and gives you nothing to find them with.
Where duplicates come from
- Duplicating a page as a starting point and forgetting to rename the copy.
- Templates that create a page with the same fixed title every time they're used.
- Two people writing the same document without knowing the other had started.
- An import from another tool landing on top of pages that already existed.
How to find them by hand
Search Notion for the titles you suspect — “Onboarding”, “Roadmap”, “Team wiki” — and look for more than one result with the same name. Compare the last edited dates: the version nobody has touched in months is usually the copy.
Before archiving, check which version other pages link to, so you don't break a link people rely on. The weakness of doing this by hand is that you only find the duplicates you already suspected.
